Position Title: Range Maintenance Worker
Department/Project: TSS‑E Range Sustainment – Fort Irwin
Reports To: Range Maintenance Supervisor / Site Manager
Position Summary
The Range Maintenance Worker performs general maintenance, repair, and upkeep of U.S. Army live‑fire
and training ranges, targets, and associated facilities in support of the TSS‑E Range Sustainment contract at
Fort Irwin.[1]
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on range roads, firing points, berms, dikes, and impact
areas, including grading, filling, compacting, and erosion control.
• Inspect, repair, and replace wooden, steel, and automated targets, frames, and related hardware.
• Conduct minor carpentry, painting, fencing, and facility upkeep on range structures, towers, and
shelters.
• Assist with emplacement, alignment, and recovery of targetry, barricades, and training aids in
accordance with range control and safety SOPs.
• Operate light and medium equipment (e.g., pickup trucks, utility vehicles, small loaders, water
trucks) within training areas as authorized.
• Perform range cleanup, including removal of debris, scrap, and expended materials in accordance
with environmental and safety guidelines.
• Support range reconfiguration for different training events based on Range Operations Specialist and
Government direction.
• Complete all required documentation (work orders, inspection sheets, maintenance logs) accurately
and on time.
• Comply with all Government and Company safety, environmental, and security requirements,
including PPE, vehicle use, and radio procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One (1) year of grounds, construction, range, or facilities maintenance experience preferred.
• Valid state driver’s license; ability to obtain and maintain all installation access credentials required
under the contract.
• Ability to operate basic power tools, hand tools, and small equipment safely.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
• Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds; extended walking, standing, bending, and working
outdoors in desert conditions.
• Ability to work in and around active training ranges in compliance with all safety directives and
hearing/eye protection requirements.
