Position Title: Power Generator Mechanic II
Department/Project: TSS‑E Range Sustainment – Fort Irwin
Position Summary
This is a higher‑level mechanic responsible for advanced diagnostics, repair, and overhaul of generator sets
and associated power distribution equipment.[1]
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Perform advanced troubleshooting on mechanical, electrical, and control systems of generators using
diagnostic tools and schematics.
• Repair or replace major components (e.g., engines, alternators, voltage regulators, governors) and
verify proper operation.
• Configure and maintain temporary power distribution systems, including panels and cabling, in
accordance with codes and Army standards.
• Lead or mentor junior generator mechanics and maintenance personnel.
• Provide input on spare‑parts requirements and reliability improvements.
Minimum Qualifications
• Three (3) years of relevant generator or heavy diesel experience, or equivalent military occupational
specialty background.
• Ability to interpret complex wiring diagrams and technical data.
• Strong understanding of electrical safety and lockout/tagout practices.
