Position Title: Lead Equipment Operator
Department/Project: TSS‑E Range Sustainment – Fort Irwin
Position Summary
The Lead Equipment Operator operates heavy construction equipment and provides day‑to‑day work
direction to Equipment Operators engaged in range construction and maintenance activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Operate graders, bulldozers, loaders, scrapers, backhoes, and other heavy equipment to construct and
maintain range roads, berms, and training features.
• Plan daily work with supervision and coordinate equipment and operator assignments to meet
schedule and safety requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and informal on‑the‑job training to Equipment Operators.
• Perform operator‑level preventive maintenance and inspections; report deficiencies and coordinate
repairs.
• Ensure all work complies with safety standards, environmental requirements, and range control
restrictions.
Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three (3) years of heavy equipment operation experience, including at least one (1) year in a lead or
senior role preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and any required endorsements for equipment transport.
