Position Title: Power Generator Mechanic I
Department/Project: TSS‑E Range Sustainment – Fort Irwin
Position Summary
Power Generator Mechanic I performs maintenance and repair on engine‑driven generator sets and related
power equipment under general supervision.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance on tactical and commercial generator sets (e.g., oil
changes, filters, coolant, belts).
• Perform basic troubleshooting and corrective maintenance on engines, alternators, control panels, and
fuel systems.
• Assist senior mechanics with more complex diagnostics and repairs.
• Maintain service records and ensure generators are ready, fueled, and configured for scheduled range
use.
• Support installation and removal of generator sets in field locations, including load banking as
required.
Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One (1) year of experience in diesel or gasoline engine maintenance preferred.
• Ability to read basic technical manuals and follow safety procedures.
